Chandrayaan 3 ISRO Mission Full Detail & When will Chandrayaan-3 launch, Lunar Polar Exploration (LUPEX) Mission

Chandrayaan 3 or Lunar Polar Exploration (LUPEX) : Together India and Japan are also preparing for a lunar mission. The mission is named Lunar Polar Exploration (LUPEX). This mission is the next series of India’s moon mission Chandrayaan. This moon mission in India is known as Chandrayaan 3.

Through the Chandrayaan 3 (Lunar Polar Exploration) mission, the lander and rover will be launched to the lunar surface for the first time. Documents associated with the Chandrayaan 3 mission have revealed that the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will lead the construction of the Chandrayaan 3 lander.

Chandrayaan 3

According to information shared by Japan’s space agency JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency), Chandrayaan 3 mission will be launched after 2023, as ISRO is currently working on manned space program (Gaganyaan). Gaganyaan is to be launched in 2022.

The diagram shared by JAXA shows that Japan will be building the Chandrayaan 3 landing module and Chandrayaan 3 rover, while ISRO will build the Chandrayaan 3 lander system. The mission will be launched from Japan and the H3 rocket is scheduled for its launching. Which is manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

The Chandrayaan 3 mission was first reported in 2017 in Bangalore, where a multi-space agencies meeting was held. The Chandrayaan 3 mission was also part of inter-governmental discussions during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Japan in 2018.

Now, a pre-project team set up earlier this year is working on developing a comprehensive management plan for the collaborative mission Lunar Polar Exploration (LUPEX). This team will examine what is required for the spacecraft system and various interface specifications in association with ISRO.

JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) said that analysing observational data gave us information about the existence of water in the polar regions of the Moon. JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) is working closely with ISRO to plan an international collaborative mission to obtain data on the amount and forms of water resources present in the Moon. The Japanese Space Agency stated that we would be able to use these resources for sustainable space exploration activities in the future.

Objectives of Chandrayaan 3 – Lunar Polar Exploration (LUPEX)

The objectives of Chandrayaan 3 (LUPEX) is to obtain actual data about the amount of water from observations of areas of the moon where water is present according to already existing data. The Chandrayaan 3 (Lunar Polar Exploration) mission will explain the distribution, conditions, form and other parameters of lunar water resources in the polar regions of the Moon.

What is Chandrayaan 3 – Lunar Polar Exploration (LUPEX)

Chandrayaan 3 or Lunar Polar Exploration (LUPEX) is an ambitious upcoming moon mission of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). This will be the third mission of India’s Chandrayaan expedition. ISRO will send a lunar rover and lander to explore the South Pole region of the Moon in 2020 or 2021.

It will be able to carry an orbiter, lander and rover like the Indian Space Research Organisation’s previous mission Chandrayaan-2. The mission has been formally approved by the Government of India.

About Chandrayaan-3, Lunar Polar Exploration (LUPEX)

Chandrayaan – 3; Is the successor to Chandrayaan-2 and it will attempt a soft landing on the lunar surface. Significantly, due to the hard landing of Chandrayaan-2’s Vikram Lander, it crashed on the lunar surface.

According to ISRO Chief, Chandrayaan-3 will also have a propulsion module with lander and rover.

According to ISRO Chief, the team related to Chandrayaan-3 has been formed and work on this mission has started smoothly.

Chandrayaan-3 Lander

Chandrayaan-3 lander will be built by ISRO. This lander will be like Chandrayaan-2 lander, but it will be given 4 engines instead of 5 engines. This will help Chandrayaan-3 make a soft landing in the moon.

Giving 4 engines will also reduce its weight and reduce the cost. Let us tell you that 5 engines were given in Chandrayaan-2 lander. The Lander of Chandrayaan-3 will cost Rs 250 crore. Its construction has been completed, now it is being tested.

Chandrayaan-3 Rover

Chandrayaan-3’s rover will be manufactured by JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency). This rover will be similar to Chandrayaan-2’s rover. The rover of Chandrayaan-3 will cost Rs 100 crore.

Chandrayaan-3’s rover’s job is to analyse the lunar surface. After analysing, the rover will send that data to Chandrayaan-2’s orbiter (satellite).

The Chandrayaan-2 orbiter (sent by Chandrayaan-3’s rover) will send that data to ISRO and JAXA’s control centre located on Earth. Here, by analysing this data, scientists will discover about the lunar surface.

Cost of Chandrayaan-3

Chandrayaan-3 Cost : According to ISRO, the total cost of the Chandrayaan-3 mission will be more than Rs 600 crore. While the total cost of Chandrayaan-2 was around Rs 1000 crores.
